Active Citizenship

Active Citizenship lies at the heart of our personal development programme, giving every pupil meaningful opportunities to engage in social action throughout their school journey. Through this programme, learning is enriched with real-world experiences that help children develop essential skills in personal growth, empathy, and social responsibility.

From Early Years through to Key Stage 2, pupils are actively involved in projects that make a positive difference and raise awareness of issues affecting their communities and beyond. Activities include growing fruit and vegetables with our neighbours at Dixons Marchbank School, spending time learning and playing with students at Delius Special School, visiting Silverlea retirement home, and raising funds for Childline through school-baked treats. Older pupils run a Fareshare food stall to reduce food waste, while all Year 4 pupils participate in the Bradford Schools Linking Programme, building friendships with children from very different communities across the district.

These experiences help pupils gain confidence, collaboration skills, and a strong understanding of the world around them. The Active Citizenship programme equips them to be thoughtful, caring, and proactive members of society, ready to contribute positively both in school and beyond.
